Meet Rosa Abidi

Rosa Abidi

Rosa Abidi is an Algerian-born British creativity coach, hypnotherapist and self-trust specialist, who has been involved in the arts and education over the past three decades.

An African film expert, she has coordinated events and festivals for the BFI Southbank and Africa at the Pictures. She has curated African films at the Barbican centre, the French Institute, the British Museum, including the first full retrospective of African filmmakers in the UK (Gaston Kabore and Idrissa Ouedraogo, BFI Southbank), as well as the first retrospective of contemporary Algerian cinema (Algerian Cinema: A New Wave, Picturehouse cinemas, RichMix, French Institute). As programmer for the Royal Africa’s Society’s Film Africa festival, she championed films directed by women as well as the work of emerging filmmakers. She also introduced African short films and African story-telling to primary school children in London. She worked in film production as assistant to award-winning producer Sally Hibbin, on the post-production of Blind Flight (John Furse, 2003) and on the pre-production and production of Yasmin (Kenny Glenaan, 2004). Rosa is a contributor to the Africa volume of the Directory of World Cinema, edited by Sheila Petty and Blandine Stephanson, and published by IntellectBooks (Bristol, UK, 2015).

Often called a midwife for her ability to help envision and birth new ideas, new perspectives, and bring projects to fruition, she now supports filmmakers, artists, intuitives and cultural creatives through every aspect, and at every stage of their creative work, including emotional healing. Harvesting her own personal inner journey and bringing together her background in film, education, her pedagogical training as a qualified teacher and her long-standing interest in the psyche’s workings, she guides artists and intuitives on a transpersonal evolutionary journey, one that integrates all aspects of their creative being, towards their unique brilliance and their unique impact.
